Im 30 weeks pregnant. I went in for my one hour Glucose test and My results came back positive for Diabetes Mellitus, So now I have to do a 3 Day diet and go back in for the 3 hour glucose test. What are the Treatments? What does it mean??? .. What is Diabetes Mellitus and what can I expect from here..?? Does that mean my baby could be deformed, or be unhealthy? Or that he can develop these things because of this? LOL Sorry for ALL the Questions, Im just a Young mother that is worried. Thank you for all the Help. I appreciate it. :]

The one hour glucose test did not come back 'positive' for diabetes mellitus. It came back as suggestive of gestational diabetes. Some women develop an elevated glucose during pregnancy - referred to as gestational diabetes. The physician wants you to undergo a three hour glucose test to confirm the diagnosis. If you prove to have gestational diabetes the treatment is with analog insulins. It does not mean that you will have diabetes after delivering your child. It most definitely does not mean that your child has diabetes. If identified and treated promptly - there is no significant risk to the child. It does not mean that the baby could be defored or be unhealthy or that the child will develop any health problems as long as you are properly diagnosed or treated. First wait and see if the diagnosis is gestational diabetes. Then follow your physician's insulin regimen as precisely as you are able. This is not uncommon in pregnancy, and therefore, the approach to treatment is well defined. It sounds as if your physician has done due diligence in identifying a potential problem. If you have gestational diabetes your physician should be able to insure that no harm will come to mother or child. I wish you both the very best of health and may God bless.

I know you might find this strange but some Pregnant people only have Diabetes with the pregnancy after the baby is born its goes away i don't know what it is in your case but. The Baby will be fine as long as you keep your blood at a normal level witch is 6.7 or 7.0 i am Diabetic and i'm only 15 but i was worried about my children when i'm older and i found out that if you don't look after your blood levels then you might have a Misscarage or a Still birth i don't want to scare you but look after the both of you ;)
