No not at all, unless eating too much sugar is the main cause of obesity, and obesity can cause type 2 diabetes. read this, if u havent already http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_2_diabetes i hope that helps!!!
2 :
There is no such thing as diabetes mellitus type 2 Fact Diabetes mellitus is also known as type 1 diabetes, also you do not have to avoid sugar if you have type 1. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease and is not caused by eating too much sugar, if you reduce the amount of sugar you eat it makes no difference to the disease other than you will have better control but once you have type 1 you will have it for life and is only treatable by insulin injections Fact type 2 diabetes mainly effects adults and is brought on by bad diet, obesity, lifestyle etc, you should reduce you weight and diet. type 2 is usually treated by diet only and tablets Im not sure where you get the well known fact for your statement above, must be in the place where all the people go that know nothing about diabetes
3 :
Avoiding sugar won't stop the onset of diabetes. While to much sugar isn't good for anyone, the diabetes factor is different. High blood sugar causing diabetes is the result of the pancreas not producing enough insulin.
4 :
No, too much sugar is NOT responsible for diabetes. And after the onset of type 2 it is important to reduce carbohydrates, sugar just happens to be one. It is just as important to watch how much rice or potatoes or white bread or milk is consumed as it is sugar. Also "Fully" needs to work on her facts and stop going to "that place where all the people go that know nothing about diabetes" because her "facts" are wrong! She may be a type 1 diabetic but that does not make her an expert on diabetes. Type 2 is a type of diabetes mellitus and is not brought on by bad diet, obesity, lifestyle etc, but is a genetic or hereditary disease.
5 :
There are several ways to test: 1) A simple urine test will give an indication for howhigh your blood sugar is. 2) They can do a resting blood sugar test to see how high your sugar is. 3) They can do a Hemoglobin A1C to see on average, how high your sugar has been. Symptoms of diabetes include: Weight loss, irritability, sudden poor eyesight, insatiable thirst, leg cramps when you lay down, horrid pain in your kidneys, increased urination
6 :
Probably not

It's still best to have yourself a blood test to know if you really have diabetes. Also, from the tests your doctor will be able to tell you what foods are to be disregarded due to it's high sugar content. Don't wait till you will have to inject yourself of insulin and this will be for a lifetime.
2 :
go and see your gp. stop eating food which is high in sugar.
3 :
These are indeed signs of diabetes. Even if you eat an obscene amount of sugar, your system should quickly and efficiently bring blood sugar level down to proper levels, somewhere below 100. Since others in your family have diabetes, ask someone to test your blood. If it is above 126 you almost certainly are diabetic. If it is above 100 and below 126 you may be borderline and easily controlled through diet and exercise and nothing more.
4 :
The only person who can tell if you are diabetic is your doctor and this will be after doing blood tests. The disease can not be diagnosed by anyone on here and certainly not on the fact that some ants appeared to feed on your urine. Yes it may indicate sugar in the urine so see your doctor and get checked out. NOW the longer you leave it the more damage may be done,
5 :
I agree with the other answers, but would like to add that you shouldn't diagnose yourself. It is quite possible, indeed probable, that the ants just like the water in your urine. If it's been a prolonged hot, dry season, ants will follow a path to water wherever they can find it. Also, some varieties of ants are more drawn to urine than others. Unless it's fruit juice, why are you drinking stuff with so much sugar in it? Do you just like the calories? Wake up! If you are type 2, then your body will indeed eliminate excess sugar in the urine, because it doesn't produce enough insulin to store what you are eating. Thee are three ways to fix that: 1) take (more) insulin from an external source, 2) get help using the insulin you ARE producing (oral meds), or 3) eat less. See a doctor and ask about having a glucose tolerance test and other related diagnostics done.
6 :
The only person who can answer this is the doctor. Go get tested. Then if you do have diabetes, check out the link below...because I can guarantee that the doctor will not give you this as an option to cure diabetes.

Diabetes is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism caused by relative or absolute deficiency of insulin. Two ways that a person gets this disease is by getting it from family (inherited) or by some unknown mechanism (viral, autoimmune). In anycase, there is no way to avoid getting diabetes, because once you have it, you have it. There is currently no cure for this disease, and the best that medical therapy can do is to control the progression of disease. Having uncontrolled diabetes can lead to blindness, kidney failure, nerve damage, heart attacks and stroke. Your brothers doctor will probably prescribe a variety of drugs to control his high blood sugar to normal or near normal range. The main point is that he has to combine is medical regimen along with diet and exercise. I cant currently recommend what types of exercise can he do, since its all dependent on the person general state of health. Dietary modifications is a must, and avoidance of simple sugars (colas, cakes, etc), and high fat foods (there are a lot of these). Bottomline however, continuous monitoring of blood sugar with good sugar control is the best way to recover and prevent the serious complications of this disease.

First of all, that's a lot of questions to answer in the small space provided here, but I will try to give you some starting points. Talking with your doctor is your best place to begin. He / she can steer you in the right direction toward meeting your health goals. As for food.... consult with a registered dietician or nutritionist for professional advice. Some basic pointers are: -- Avoid high-sugar content foods.Trade out regular soft drinks for more healthy options such as water, tea (not sweetened with sugar), or diet soft drinks. -- Avoid high-carb foods. Carbs are often metabolized as glucose and will cause your blood sugar to rise in much the same fashion as sugary foods. Potatoes, pastas, and breads are among high-carb foods. -- Avoid high-fat foods, in order to reduce cholesterol. Plan out low-fat meals and avoid frying when possible. Cholesterol and diabetes go hand in hand, so reducing one (also reducing your triglycerides) will have a positive effect on the other. -- Avoid high-sodium foods. Try to watch your salt intake as much as possible. Sodium is a cause of high blood pressure, which is also a sister-syndrome of diabetes. -- Avoid alcoholic beverages. Limit your alcohol intake to the minimal. While most alcoholic mixed drinks are high in sugar content (in the mixers) and beers are high in carbs, alcohol can actually cause hypoglycemic reactions. When it comes to diabetic meal planning, portion control is really the main key. Limit your portion sizes and avoid over-indulging. Some sugar, carbs, fats, and salt are actually okay and are impossible to avoid, but avoid excess. There is no set time interval at which you should eat, however it is recommended that you eat small snacks (healthy, of course) throughout the day and 3 meals a day. Being on a regular meal schedule has a major effect on your blood sugar levels so try to eat around the same time everyday. ************************ Unfortunately, there is no cure for diabetes, but with proper medical control you can definitely lead a healthy and happy life. Control is the key to taming the disease. Take medication as prescribed, eat the right diet, and exercise regularly. There are great resources around in nearly every community so take advantage of those. Join a diabetic support group in your area or solicit the services of a Certified Diabetes Educator near you. Your local health department is likely a great resource as well when it comes to diabetes. Good luck and best wishes...

Do you think my cat has Diabetes Mellitus

Do you think my cat has Diabetes Mellitus?
Obesity Genetic predisposition (diabetes is more prevalent in males) Poor nutrition Hormonal abnormalities Stress If you cat appears weak or thirsty, frequently urinates, has rapid weight loss, is depressed, or has abdominal pain, he could be diabetic. (that came from this link, in case you want to read more ---->) http://www.hillspet.com/cat-care/cat-diseases/diabetes-mellitus-in-cats.html My cats are over-weight, lazy, hungry a lot, and sometimes thirsty [they don't need all the symptoms to have it] We switched them to wet food, because dry food causes diabetes, but do you think either of my cats could have it? It said fixed males are more likely to get it... (Information from --->) http://www.cat-dog-diabetes.com/cats-diabetes-mellitus.asp They came from a shelter, and its been pretty hard trying to get them to lose weight. It also said something about poor coat health being a sign ... my cats coat is not shiny at all, and won't let me brush it. Sometimes he lets the girl lick him clean, but he won't do it himself. Female, Name: Bella Age: 3 Spayed: Yes Microchipped: Yes Male, Name: Apollo Age: 4 Neutured: Yes Microchipped: Yes wtf, I don't care about what you are selling! I want to know about my cats health..I am concerned.

only a vet can determine that. Good for you for switching to wet food though, it's a start. Make sure it's the gravy-free kind with no grain.
2 :
Mostly you will see increased thirst and urination, so the litterbox will be very full all the time. It is easy to diagnose with a simple blood test or urine test, so going to the vet to be sure is not a bad idea. But the likelihood of BOTH of them being diabetic is pretty low. I bet they are just fat, lazy housecats, like mine! Wet food is a good idea, you can supplement with dry, but either way watch calories because it would be healthy for them to lose weight for many reasons if they are too heavy.
3 :
Does it have frequent urination? That's a sign of diabetes M.

Which category of disease conditions could exactly diabetes mellitus be included in? thank you.

Which category of disease conditions could exactly diabetes mellitus be included in? thank you.?
For example if thyrotoxicosis is an endocrine diseae type, what does diabetes belong to?

other diseases.
2 :
Diabetes is an endocrine disorder. It affects your pancreas' secretion of insulin, and a diabtes specialist is called an endocrinologist.
3 :
diabetes is also an endocrine disease
4 :
Diabetes is also considered an endocrine disease (glandular disease). That said, Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease as well. It is not a true metabolic disease like Type 2 diabetes. It's an important distinction.
5 :
Diabetes can be considered both an endocrine disease and an autoimmune disease. The pancreas is part of the endocrine sytem. However, the body can attack itself, causing the destruction of the pancreas and insulin produving cells, making it autoimmune. So, it fits into both categories. EMT
6 :
Diabetes Mellitus, as mentioned before, is both an endocrine disease and an autoimmune disease. It is an endocrine disease because it involves the pancreas, which is one of our endocrine glands. It is an autoimmune disease because it involves the immune system turning against the body, by developing antibodies that gradually destroy the body's capability to produce insulin. Hope this helps.
7 :
It is also an endocrine disease. The reason for that is that it originates from an endocrine gland. There are 2 types of glands= endocrine and exocrine.
