Do you think that Black Seed Oil can be used as a treatment for HIV/AIDS

Do you think that Black Seed Oil can be used as a treatment for HIV/AIDS?
I AM SORRY THAT THIS IS LONG, BUT PLEASE READ I am currently doing research about Black Seeds. It is also known as Black Coriander or Black Caraway seeds. It is know that Black Seeds can cure/treat many medical ailments. Well in my Biology class, we were learning about adaptation, and an example is the AIDS virus. When ever this one perosn took the medication, it seemed that somehow the virus would adapt to it. Well since I have heard of Black Seed, and I have done some research, I was wondering if it can treat HIV/AIDS. I know that it may not completley cure it, or that you need to take this for a while to see results, i was just wondering about the possibilities. Based on this info, what do you think? Any comments will be accepted. It would help me if you cite your information (if you can). -Black seed unquestionably has a positive and stabilizing effect on the human immune system which . Moreover, since diseases are the result of defective immune systems, it is fair to assume that the beneficial effects go beyond skin disorders and allergies. Since the immune system has a direct or indirect effect on all the systems of the body, when you are infected by any disease, the power of the immunity system affects the cure of this disease. -Black seed is a safe and effective herb that can be used by almost anyone. No irritations or side effects are caused when the right dose is correctly applied. Its benefits are obtained through consistent use,the effects are medium to long term. Diabetes is useful in the treatment of diabetes mellitus or diabetes caused by an allergy. However it is recommended that the treatment be supervises because Black seed does lower blood sugar levels. Black seed should not be taken by pregnant women if their wombs are sensitive -Mahfouz and El-Dakhakhny, prominent Egyptian researchers isolated the active principle nigellone from Black Seed's essential oil in 1959. There are over 100 different chemical components in the seed. Nigella and melatin are two ingredients in Black Seed that contribute greatly to its highly diversified powers. These substances work together to provide the digestive benefits that have been revered in Black Seed. They also promote cleansing and assist with overall eliminating action. Two of the most volatile oils found in Black seed are nigellone and thymoquinone which were fist discovered in the herb in 1985. Nigellone offers both anti-spasmodic and bronchodilating properties which contribute to Black Seed's potency against respiratory ailments. It also acts as an antihistamine which helps to reduce the negative symptoms of allergy sufferers. Thymoquinone contains excellent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is also a strong anti-oxidant and helps cleanse the body of toxins. Both nigellone and thymoquinone work in conjunction with one another to enhance Black Seed's action against respiratory ailments. It also provides a healthy alternative to the more commonly prescribed cortisone based therapies used by allergy sufferers. Black seed provides a rich supply of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These ingredients play a key role in daily health and wellness. They help to regulate the metabolism, carry toxins to the skin's surface for elimination, balance insulin levels, regulate cholesterol, improve body circulation, and promote healthy liver function. A deficiency in polyunsaturated fatty acids can lead to a wide number of health problems including nervous system disorders, uninhibited growths, and skin diseases. Black seed contains over 100 valuable nutrients. It is comprised of approximately 21% protein, 38% carbohydrates, and 35% plant fats and oils. The active ingredients of black seed are nigellone, thymoquinone, and fixed oils. Black seed also contains significant proportions of protein, carbohydrates and essential fatty acids. Other ingredients include linoleic acid, oleic acid, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, selenium, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin B2, niacin, and vitamin C. A 1994 study conducted in London by King's College revealed that Black Seed has properties that inhibit certain enzymes, which also inhibit the production of certain prostaglandins. This is more proof that the rich and complex combination of elements found in Black Seed work together for a total effect. Black Seed has over 1400 years history of use. Many ancient books and text suggest the following traditional uses for Black Seed. But please note, that these should not be understood as cures or treatments for any disease or illness. Now this is only some of the research that I have done. I have not actually done some testing or anything, I am just in High School. Right now, I am in the stage of gathering information.

you have said it all and did the research yourself, noone can add to that!! at the end we hope so!! there is no desease without cure we just have to dig in!!
2 :
What's the active ingredient? Can it be synthesized or purified on a large scale? What's the target? What's the mechanism of action? What's the effectiveness compared to current treatments? These are the questions that must be answered before it can be used to treat anything. There's a reason medicine doesn't just use things like this. Until you know what molecule is doing what you don't know about any possible cross-reactions, toxicity issues, and most importantly you can't quantify everything since the amount of active ingredient isn't controlled.

Explain why accumulation of glucose within the lens results in the uptake of water.

Explain why accumulation of glucose within the lens results in the uptake of water.?
I've been given some past paper questions to help me revise for my human biology exam, but I'm stuck on this question and cannot find the mark scheme anywhere! Please can somebody help me?! If insulin does not work efficiently, diabetes mellitus may develop. One of the early symptoms of this disease is a blurring of vision caused by a build up of glucose in the lens of the eye, which is accompanied by the uptake of water. This distorts the shape of the lens. Explain why accumulation of glucose within the lens results in the uptake of water. [3 marks]

The presence of the glucose will lower the water potential of the lens and so water will enter by osmosis since it moves from high to low water potential.

There is NOTHING wrong with guns.
2 :
I'm with you for banning lethargy, especially the lethargic who wear tight clothing :) We should also ban gun control laws.
3 :
The personal possession of a firearm is a "right" that empowers the invidual. The left wants a 'collective" to have the power not the individual. Thus the "problem" with firearms.
4 :
I know criminals hate them...it's that self-defense thing. ;)
5 :
There's nothing wrong with guns. What's bad is allowing people who aren't mature enough to handle guns properly to have them.
6 :
I dont see a problem.
7 :
Taking guns away will only take them away from people trying to protect themselves too. The killers don't care if gun laws exist or don't. The only thing wrong with them are stupid people.
8 :
I say we start at the top of the list with bans. When that one is complete ,we can work our way down. NO MORE HEART ATTACKS!!! come on people, say it with me... down with heart attacks!!
9 :
I think you're kind of missing the point here. All these thing you mention are results of accidental or unavoidable deaths, with the exception of nicotine, which would be by choice of the individual. Deaths from guns are deaths that are, far more often than not, deliberate acts inflicted by disturbed individuals on innocent and most often unsuspecting victims. I honestly don't see how you can compare here. As far as deaths by automobiles, the numbers don't add up either. Consider for a moment the number of individuals in this country that own and operate an automobile on a daily basis. The numbers would probably be in the tens of millions. Now consider how many people own and use guns on a regular basis. It would only make sense that there would be a higher mortality rate for automobiles. Also keep in mind that all the things you mentioned are things that we as a society are working at reducing as well, finding cures for ailments and increasing safety on the roads. I think you're comparing apples and oranges here.

Does Insulin Resistance or too much insulin in the bloodstream make you fat

Does Insulin Resistance or too much insulin in the bloodstream make you fat?
I'm going to be doing some blood tests to see why I'm thirsty and peeing all the time. In the meantime, the doctor told me to read up on Diabetes Insipidus, Diabetes Mellitus and even Psychogenic Polydipsia. I'm 46 and have always been very active. I lift weights and run about 25 - 30 miles per week. I've been experiencing CRAZY thirst since July and I've also noticed that I've been getting fat around the middle. My diet hasn't changed (if anything, sometimes I don't think I eat enough). No one in my family has diabetes, although I have an autoimmune thyroid disease. I suppose that the belly fat can also be attributed to middle-age spread, but I'm not overweight. I don't know yet if I have some type of diabetes, but I'm wondering if the belly fat, in addition to the increased thirst and the frequent peeing points to a diabetes diagnosis? PS It didn't occur to me to mention the belly fat to my new doctor when I saw him a week ago. I guess I'll mention it when I see him for the blood test results. I'd sure appreaciate some comments from anyone who's experienced something similar. Thanks!! I should also add that I've been having leg pain/muscle cramps which I also didn't mention to the doctor because I just assumed they were musculoskeletal related (maybe running related). Sorry to be so long-winded.

For info on Diabetes go to Blood Sugar 101. http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/index.php Insulin resistance causes weight gain.Weight gain, fat storage, difficulty losing weight รข€“ for most people, excess weight is from high fat storage; the fat in IR is generally stored in and around abdominal organs in both males and females. It is currently suspected that hormone production in that fat are a precipitating cause of insulin resistance Primary polydipsia or psychogenic polydipsia is a special form of polydipsia. It is usually associated with a patient's increasing fluid intake due to the sensation of having a dry mouth. When the term "psychogenic polydipsia" is used, it implies that the condition is caused by mental disorders. However, the dry mouth is often due to phenothiazine medications used in some mental disorders, rather than the underlying condition.Psychogenic polydipsia is a type of polydypsia described in patients with mental illnesses and/or the developmentally disabled. It is present in a subset of people with schizophrenia. These patients, most often with a long history of illness, exhibit enlarged ventricles and shrunken cortex on MRI, making the physiological mechanism difficult to isolate from the psychogenic. It is a serious disorder and often leads to institutionalization as it can be very difficult to manage outside the inpatient setting. It should be taken very seriously - it can be life threatening as serum sodium is diluted to an extent that seizures and cardiac arrest can occur. Patients have been known to seek fluids from any source possible. Leg muscle cramps, particularly at night, is a classic sign of undiagnosed diabetes. You could also buy a Glucometer at walmart for $20 and test yourself for Diabetes. Diabetes Insipidus is divided into four types, each of which has a different cause and must be treated differently. The most common type of DI is caused by a lack of vasopressin, a hormone that normally acts upon the kidney to reduce urine output by increasing the concentration of the urine. Take care Tin

HELP! Mendelian Genetics

HELP! Mendelian Genetics?
I do not get this at all can someone please explain it to me please? I'm not asking anyone to do the questions just how to do each one, I missed the lesson that day. Thank you:) Medel's law of dominance and segration are to be used 1.A In the summer squash, white fruit colour is dominant; yellow is recessive. If a squash plant is homozygous for white is crossed with a homozygous yellow, predict the appearance of the F1 generation and the F2 generation. 1.B If an F1 is crossed with a homozygous white indicate the possible offspring 2.A In humans brown eyes are dominant and blue eyes are recessive. Make a Punnett square showing the possible eye colours of the children of a heterozygous, brown-eyed father and a blue-eyed mother. Give the phenotypes and genotypes ratios of the children. 2.B Two browned eyed parents have two children with blue eyes. Give the genotypes of wasch member of the family. 3. The polled (hornless) trait in cattle is dominant ; the horned trait is recessive. Certain polled bull is mated to three cows. Cow A, which is horned, gives birth to polled calf. Cow B, also horned, produced a horned calf. Cow C, which is polled, produced a horned calf. What are the genotypes of the four parents? 4. In sheep white coat is dominant, black is recessive. Occasionally a black sheep appears in the flock. How could the farmer eliminate the gene for black from his flock? 5. Why would offspring of families with a history of diabetes mellitus ( a recessive trait on both the mother's and father's side be more likely to develop the disease than offspring of families in which diabetes has occured only on one parent's side of family? Use Punnett squares in your explanation 6.An extra finger in man is rare, but due to a dominant gene. WHen one parent is normal and the other parent has an extra finger, but is heterozygous for the condition what is the probability that their first child will be normal? their second? their third? 7. Albinisn (lack of pigment) in man is caused by a recessive gene. If normal parents have an albino child, what is the probability that their next child will be normal colour? 8. Outline a possible cross to determine whether a black guinea pig is homozygous or heterozygous for the colour trait. This called a test cross, A test cross is method used to determine whether an organism that shows a dominant is pure dominant whether it is heterozygous 9. Suppose you were a cat fancier and were raising what you thought was a purebred but some of the cats had spots of white hair at their tips of their tails, while did not. How could you determine whether this trait is recessive or dominant? that only one pair of genes is affecting this trait.
Biology - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Important definitions: dominant gene - if it is there, its phenotype (ie. eyes being brown instead of blue) will be expressed recessive gene - its phenotype will only be expressed if there is no dominant gene (remember, each person has 2 copies of the same genes, 1 from your dad, 1 from your mom) homozygous - both copies of the genes are the same (ie. both your parents gave you the gene for brown eyes) heterozygous - the two copies of that gene are different (ie. one parents gave you gene for brown eyes, one parent gave you gene for blue eyes) F1 - first generation F2 - 2nd generation 1A. I usually do these questions using a Punnett square, although something this simple you'll soon memorize the pattern. To make Punnett square: 1) Make a 2x2 table 2) Take the genotype of one parent and use each gene to label a column. So in this example, we know one parent has homozygous white. That means its genotype is white white. So label both columns as "white". Usually people choose a letter to represent the gene, and capitalized == dominant, not capitalized == recessive. So let's call white W. Then you should label the 2 columns as W. 3) Take genotype of the other parent and use each gene to label a row. In this example, the other parent is homozygous for yellow - ww - so label each row with a 'w'. 4) Go through each square and fill in the labels of the columns and row it occupies. And there you have the genotype for your F1 progeny. It should be 100% Ww 5) Phenotype is what they'll look like. As mentioned above, dominant traits are always expressed, so in this case, W (ie. white) is expressed. Now take two of the Ww and use them as the new "parents" in a Punnett square to find the genotype/phenotype of the F2 kids. So you should have 1 column called "W", the other column called "w". Similarly, one row called "W", one row called "w". You should end up with a percentage of white kids, and a percentage of yellow kids. 1B. Make a punnett square with Ww and WW 2A. Make a Punnet square. Father they told you is heterozygous. They didn't say anything about the mom because if she is displaying the recessive trait (ie. blue eyes), she is obviously homozygous recessive. 2B. Genotype of kids are easy, they are showing recessive traits (see 2A). Genotype of parents.... if we know the kids have 2 blue genes, that means they got one from each parent. What genotype do the parents have to have to be able to give blue gene and show brown trait? 3. You are able to get kids with recessive traits from a bull showing dominant trait. What genotype is the bull? (see 2B) CowA (see 2A) CowB (see 2A) CowC (same reasoning as the bull) 4. This one I'm not 100% sure, but here's my take on it. Breeding is how you pass on genes. Don't breed = don't pass on genes. Works for any gene (I think). Recessive means sometimes breeding dominant sheeps would still give recessive kids... but if you keep stopping black sheeps from breeding, eventually hopefully it'll work. Another part of this anwer might be that you can never be sure you wiped out black sheeps.. because even when you have all white sheeps, there's a chance some of them are heterozygous, and by "luck of the draw", never pass on the black gene at same time as its partner. Dominant genes, on the other hand, will always be wiped out if you wipe out dominant displaying sheeps. That's why lethal genetic diseases are usually recessive traits. 5. Mmm, not sure why you need a Punnett square to answer this. But maybe make a Punnett square showing that if someone had diabetes, all of his/her kids would at least carry the gene for it? Compared with a Punnett square of someone who is not showing diabetes, then the kids may or may not be carrying the gene. That means, if these "kids" are actually your parents, then in case1, your parents will always be a carrier. In case2, you parents may or may not be carriers. 6. Do a Punnett square. This gives you the probability. Then realize that the same probability holds true for each child. Just like flipping a coin. Everytime you flip, it's 50/50. Because you got heads last time doesn't make the next flip not 50/50. 7. See 6 If you need help with parent's genotype to begin with, see 2B 8. It's asking you what you should breed your guinea pig with to find out if it's homozygous or heterozygous. Your choices are find a guinea pig that is: homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive, heterozygous. Think about what kind of kids you'll get for each combination and in what percentage. Since this is pretty common and many teachers give out the answer in class, I'll tell you the answer at the end of this post. 9. I'm not 100% sure on this one. I'd say breed a cat with white tip with a cat without white tip. The kind of offsprings you get more of is dominant. As for one pair of gene or not. Not sure if this is what they're getting at, but most traits that are affected by more than one gene tends to have a gradient. Like maybe some spots are grey, instead of just black or white? Look at my wiki source for more information. Most people would use an animal with recessive traits. That way you have a higher chance of seeing the recessive trait if it occurs. And if it does occur, you know your original dominant guinea pig HAS to be heterozygous.

Constantly hungry and thirsty, very little body fat my entire life

Constantly hungry and thirsty, very little body fat my entire life?
was always hungry as a kid but never got enough food, always been tiny, born about 2 months early, no matter how much i eat i'm always hungry about an hour later. i'm also low on iron. need to get that liquid stuff... My question is... Why? Do i have diabeties or something? Or maybe coeliac disease? i looked at these pages but i'm still unsure. i don't have a doctor and i don't know if it'd cost to go get checked out. not that i have the cash to get checked... i remember when i was younger mom kept miscarrying trying to give me a sibling. the coeliac page says that happens if you've got the disease. i wonder if it can run in families. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetes_mellitus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coeliac_Disease#Signs_and_symptoms sorry if it's confusing. i do eat. lol, it's just never enough. if you'd of read you'd see that, lol.

Is this the right way to internally cite

Is this the right way to internally cite?
Is this the right way to internally cite? Diabetes mellitus, characterized by the decreased carbohydrate metabolism due to decreased insulin resulting in high blood and urine glucose levels (Brunzel 267, Flynn and Whitlock 27), and diabetes insipidus, characterized by decreased synthesis of antidiuretic hormone or lack of renal tubular response to the hormone (Brunzel 268, Flynn and Whitlock 36), are two diseases that can also cause pale or colorless urine (Graff 10-12). Or should I explain the diseases in a separate sentence? Two diseases that cause pale or colorless urine are diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus (Graff 10-12). Diabetes mellitus characterized by the decreased carbohydrate metabolism due to decreased insulin resulting in high blood and urine glucose levels (Brunzel 267, Flynn and Whitlock 27). Diabetes insipidus is characterized by decreased sythesis of antidiuretic hormone or the lack of renal tubular response to the hormone (Brunzel 268, Flynn and Whitlock 36). My teacher said to describe the disease right after mentioning it, so I'm assuming that they have to be in the same sentence - or am I misinterpreting what she meant by "right after it"??

I.Patientรข€™s Profile General Data NameF.B. Age59 years old SexMale Civil StatusMarried OccupationHousewife History of Present Illness The patient has a known case of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Patient underwent Mitral Valve Repair (MVR) in 1999 and has been on Coumadin therapy with no regular follow up of bleeding parameters. Six days prior to admission, patient experienced headache and dizziness, but no consult was made. Instead, patient self-medicated with Bonamine which afforded relief. Three days prior to admission, headache persisted with increased severity, which prompted patient to seek medical assistance at FEU Hospital. Mobic and Iterax were given. Few hours prior to admission, patient was noted to have changes in sensorium and relatives decided to seek consult at Philippine Heart Center. Upon admission, patient was noted to be unresponsive, stuporous, and speechless, with GCS of 7 (E2V1M4). Past Medical History The patient has denies any history of Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. As mentioned, she had a history of Rheumatic Heart Disease and had Mitral Valve Repair in 1999. She is a non-smoker and non alcoholic drinker. Nursing Assessment (Problem-Based) Neurologic: LOC: drowsy to stuporous, 3-4 mm pupil size anisocoric, with brisk reaction to light; GCS รข€“ 9 (E4- Spontaneous eye opening V1- none/mechanical ventilation M4 รข€“ withdraws to pain) (+) dollรข€™s eye reflex (+) babinski on right foot (-) corneal reflex, no visual threat Respiratory Patient is hooked to a mechanical ventilator through a tracheostomy. Ventilator set-up: 350/30/14/AC/5. (+) crackles on both lung fields. With equal breath sounds. Cardiac With atrial fibrillation; fine course, with occasional unifocal PVCรข€™s. HR = 97 BP= 120รข€™s-130รข€™s/60รข€™s-70รข€™s. Musculo-Skeletal No contractures noted but there was stiffness noted at the right wrists and both ankle joints; with normal muscle tone and non-spontaneous movement; with severe weakness on both upper and lower extremities. Hematologic Latest PTPA: INR = 1.02 Act = 98% II.Anatomy and Physiology of the Brain Blood Supply of the Brain The blood supply of the brain derives from the aortic arch via the right innominate, left common carotid and left subclavian arteries. It includes the conducting and penetrating vessels. The venous system draining the brain is divided into vertebral veins that receive blood from the cerebellum. The cerebral veins have no valves. All the veins of the brain terminate into dural sinuses. External Brain Structures The brain is grossly divided into three main areas: the cerebrum, the brain stem and the cerebellum. The largest portion of the brain is the cerebrum. It consists of two hemispheres that are connected together at the corpus callosum. The cerebrum is often divided into five lobes that are responsible for different brain functions. The cerebrumรข€™s surfaceรข€”the neocortexรข€”is convoluted into hundreds of folds. The neocortex is where all the higher brain functions take place. The cerebellum lies in the posterior fossa, separated from the cerebrum by tentorium cerebelli. It exerts ipsilateral control. It has three principal lobes. The Flocculonodular lobe is part of the vestibular system. It controls muscle tone, equilibrium and body position. The Anterior lobe receives most of the proprioreceptive and interoceptive input from head and body. It controls automatic movements and coordination. The posterior lobe coordinates voluntary movement. The ventricles The ventricles are a complex series of spaces and tunnels through the center of the brain. They secrete cerebrospinal fluid, which suspends the brain in the skull. They also provide a route for chemical messengers that are widely distributed through the central nervous system. Cerebrospinal fluid Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a colorless liquid that bathes the brain and spine. It is formed within the ventricles of the brain, and it circulates throughout the central nervous system. It fills the ventricles and meninges, allowing the brain to รข€ล“floatรข€ within the skull. The Meninges The meninges are layers of tissue that separate the skull and the brain. The Dura mater is the tough and fibrous membrane. The Arachnoid membrane is the delicate membrane and contains subarachnoid fluid. Pia mater is the vascular membrane. The subarachnoid space is fprmed by the arachnoid membrane and the pia mater. Normal Flow of Cerebrospinal Fluid Cerebrospinal fluid is produced in the Choroid plexuses of the ventricle. It flows from the lateral ventricles to the third ventricle passing through the interventricular foramen. Then it goes through the cerebral aqueduct to the fourth ventricle. From there fluid flows to the subarachnoid cisterns through the foramina of Magendie and Luschka to bathe the cerebral hemispheres. It exits through the saggital sinus to be absorbed by the arachnoid villi. III.Pathophysiology of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH) The term subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) refers to extravasation of blood into the subarachnoid space between the pial and arachnoid membranes. SAH comprises half of spontaneous atraumatic intracranial hemorrhages, the other half consist of bleeding that occurs within the brain parenchyma. Intracranial hemorrhage as a whole comprises 20% of all strokes. Nontraumatic SAH usually is the result of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm or AVM. Blood extravasation into the subarachnoid space has a detrimental effect on both local and global brain function and leads to high morbidity and mortality rates. The classic clinical picture of SAH is marked by the onset of very severe headache, tagged as the รข€ล“worst in lifeรข€. Other associated signs and symptoms are loss of consciousness, seizures, diplopia and focal neurologic signs. The early complications of SAH are rebleeding and hydrocephalus. Other complications include vasospasm, neurologic deficits, hypothalamic dysfunction and hyponatremia. Vasospasm from arterial smooth muscle contraction is symptomatic in 36% of patients. Neurologic deficits from cerebral ischemia peak at days 4-12. Hypothalamic dysfunction causes excessive sympathetic stimulation, which may lead to myocardial ischemia or labile detrimental BP. Hyponatremia may result from cerebral salt wasting (SIADH). Nosocomial pneumonia and other complications of critical care may occur. Pathophysiology Diagram Pathological Cycle Resulting from Increased Intracranial Pressure Surgical Treatment Ventriculo-peritoneal Shunting The ventriculo-peritoneal shunt diverts CSF from a lateral ventricle or the spinal subarachnoid space to the peritoneal cavity. A tube is passed from the lateral ventricle through an occipital burr-hole subcutaneously through the posterior aspect of neck and paraspinal region to the peritoneal cavity through a small incision in the right lower quadrant. IV.Nursing Diagnoses 1.Ineffective Breathing Pattern r/t neuromuscular impairment 2.Ineffective airway clearance related totracheobronchial secretions 3.Altered Level of Consciousness r/t decreased cerebral perfusion 4.Impaired Physical Mobility r/t neuromuscular impairment 5.Risk for Injury r/t possible shunt malfunction 6.Risk for Infection r/t post-surgical wound V.Discharge Care Plan (METHODS) MEDICATION รข€¢Reinforce importance of medication compliance to patient and her relatives; its time, frequency, duration dosage and route. รข€¢Advice to report unusual manifestations and side effects of drugs to physician. รข€¢Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of medication regimen. ENVIRONMENT/ EXERCISE รข€¢Instruct patients watcher to provide calm and non stressful environment to prevent stimuli that could lead to seizures and an increase in Intracranial Pressure รข€¢Advice to limit visitors รข€¢Provide environment within normal room and body temperature. รข€¢Maintain safe environment. รข€¢Institute seizure precaution. รข€¢Initiate positional precaution to prevent increase in intracranial pressure. รข€¢Teach patientรข€™s relative to perform passive range of motion exercises on patientรข€™s extremities. TREATMENT รข€¢Teach patientรข€™s relatives proper shunt care. รข€¢Teach patientรข€™s relatives how to suction properly. HEALTH TEACHING ON DISEASE PROCESS รข€¢Explain to patientรข€™s relatives regarding patientรข€™s neurological status and disease process, and its manifestations. รข€¢Discuss possible complications of VP Shunt and its signs and symptoms OUT PATIENT FOLLOW UP รข€¢Inform relatives regarding importance of compliance on follow-up check up. รข€¢In case of continued Coumadin therapy, stress the importance of regular PTPA monitoring. Diet รข€¢Refer to dietician for dietary instructions. SPIRITUAL / SEXUAL รข€¢Encourage patientรข€™s relatives to seek spiritual support. รข€¢Encourage patientรข€™s husband on alternative ways on showing affections such as hugs and kisses. What are these black spots

What are these black spots?
I have these brown-black spots on my belly. When there were few, I used to ignore them. But now there are 30-40 of them. They look like scars, but even itch at times. My dad, who's a diabetic, has a blackened leg. Could i also be having diabetes? Are my spots symptoms? Coz I've got no other symptom of the disease. Do you think its pigmentation? Coz I don't have Diabetes insipidus for sure (I don't pass excess urine). Is it Diabetes mellitus?Should I visit a doctor?

What would be a good conclusion for this essay

What would be a good conclusion for this essay?
The population of Bahrain suffers from one of the highest prevalence rates of diabetes in the world. Talk to any medical professional in the kingdom and theyรข€™ll tell you it is one of the most pressing health issue the country faces. Currently around 15 per cent of the population suffers from diabetes, with the illness causing five percent of deaths in Bahrain. Yet, thanks to the symptoms being so various and relatively difficult to self-diagnose, up to half of those suffering donรข€™t even know theyรข€™ve got it. Diabetes is a metabolic disease which is caused by abnormal insulin secretion that regulates glucose use by the cell for energy. The result is a high glucose in the blood leading to damage to the blood vessels supplying main organs and tissues like the kidney, eye, nerves and the heart. According to the International Diabetes Federation, five countries among the six highest diabetes prevalence rates in the world are Gulf States countries, including Bahrain which is ranked the fifth. The seriousness of the problem is that 50 percent of cases are unaware that they have the disease but even those diagnosed with diabetes are identified after years of the disease with no symptoms. This is a silent disease and most patients have no symptoms and this underscores the need for early screening for those at risk of the disease. It is estimated that diabetes prevalence will increase by more than two fold in Bahrain in the next two decades. Diabetes mellitus has become one of the most common public health problems in the country. In 1988 it was estimated that 3.4% of total deaths in Bahrain were due to diabetes. There are many solutions to cure diabetes before it occurs and after it occurs; depending on the stage it is in. each solution depends on the stage and type of diabetes the individual has. The solutions are; Hydrotherapy, Detoxification, Herbal medicines, and Mud Therapy. These solutions should be carried immediately for individuals in order to solve the diabetes problem. The symptoms can be very unnoticeable so check ups are highly recommended if any of the less visible are seen or felt by the individual.

Urine Analysis High school lab questions

Urine Analysis High school lab questions?
Hi I am doing a lab in high school about urine analysis and I have a few questions. We have 4 solutions that we have to classify to either diabetes mellitus, diabetes insidipus, bright's disease, tremendous loss of body water while exercising. Test tube A tested positive for high sugar concentration, so Im guessing that is diabetes mellitus? Test tube B tested negative for sugar concentration, so is that diabetes insidipus then? Test tube C has a pH of 4, so is that tremendous water loss while exercising? Test tube D tested positive for protein, so is that bright's disease? My final question is: What is the normal aproximate % of sugar in the urine? And is a negative result for sugar in urine sample mean the patient is healthy or they have diabetes?

Like you said, death is uncommon in that population. Illness is even less common. As a population ages, terminal illnesses become more common, and move up in rank on the causes of death list. Accidents become slightly more common, but the increase isn't as much as increases in heart disease, cancer, etc.
